Final Movie Photo Editing

Photo #1: The Penny Box. I edited this photo by highlighting the penny box and darkening the area around it.
Photo #2: The Orange Out. I edited this photo by cropping it to make it a better fit.
Photo #3: My motto. I used the paintbrush to emphasize the motto. I also added text above the motto.
Photo #4: Class picture. I also edited this photo using the paintbrush and also added text above as well.

If you're wondering what's with all of the orange...it's because orange is the color for leukemia awareness, so I used the heck out of it!

My Podcast

Here is the link to my podcast: http://laceyglasford.podbean.com/feed/

I did my podcast on the array of extracurricular activities there are at Nebraska City High School. This first podcast shows what kinds of activities there are and why there are beneficial to students. The next podcast that will be broadcasted will be over the club FCCLA. I would be posting new podcasts every other week to showcase a new activity each time. The photos that I edited are:

Photo #7: Baseball & Track photo. I edited this photo using the collage effect.
Photo #9: The NCHS 2009 Spring Sports photo. I edited this photo using the mosaic effect.
Photo #10: Band photo. I edited this photo using the highlighting effect. I made one of the band members lighter than the others.
Photo #16: Dance Team photo. This photo was edited using the blurring effect. I blurred the outside parameter of the dance team members to enhance the team.

Podcast

The podcast that I subscribed to was the "Politics of Poverty" podcast. I really liked the fact that this podcast really gets to the point about how bad poverty really is around the world. Even though the America is the richest nation in the world, there are still millions of people that are poverty-stricken. The podcast goes on to explain that there is poverty around the world because of our own selfishness. We should constantly be aware of what is going on around us, and this podcast does exactly that. Next year, I will be teaching a Contemporary Social Issues class and I think this podcast would work great for this class. We will be covering the issue of poverty, so this podcast can explain to my students what exactly is going on outside their little bubble.

Week 1, Post 2

My name is Lacey Glasford and I am Social Studies teacher at Nebraska City High School.  I am currently teaching World Cultures and a History & Cinema class.  I am also the Student Council sponsor as well.  For two years, I attended college at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri.  For my last three years, I finished college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
I think that since I'm a fairly young teacher (so to speak!), I'm more technologically savvy than some of my fellow colleagues.  Through many of my grad classes, I've acquired more multimedia skills that I ever thought that I would.  I use an LCD projector to give notes to my students.  I use a lot of Internet websites for my History & Cinema class as well.  As soon as I am finished with my graduate program, I plan on implementing the skills that I have acquired into my classroom.  I will definitely have time for it then!  I have three Macs at home, so I am definitely a Mac user.  We also use them at school as well.  I am currently using Microsoft Office 2007, which is also what we have at school.
With my degree in Curriculum and Instruction, I plan (and hope) to do a lot of things with it.  I've learned so much so far, that I almost feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the knowledge that I have acquired so far.  I think that when it's all over and done, I can take the time to put all of this information together so that I can use everything that I've learned in my classroom.  I definitely plan on using the information that I've learned from my technology classes.  Students are really into technology, and I feel that I can reach them on a different level by using technology in the classroom.
